What You Need to Know About Hardware Installation Kits for Headache Racks

Our hardware installations kits for our headache racks are designed to be efficient – so you can get your vehicle to where it needs to be.

When you order a BACKRACK™ headache rack, you will receive everything you need for fast and easy installation. Our hardware installations kits for our headache racks are designed to be efficient – so you can get your vehicle to where it needs to be.

We provide everything you need to install your BACKRACK™ with or without toolbox or Tonneau cover adaptor brackets.

No drilling is required with most hardware installation kits!

Most of our hardware installation kits do not require any drilling. They use the holes that already exist in your truck bed to attach your headache rack to your vehicle securely. That is why we ask for the make and model of your truck when you order because each installation kits made for a specific vehicle – with stake pocket bolts designed for your specific vehicle.

For trucks with a bed liner, you can remove the liner and install the pocket bolts. After that, you can reinstall the bed liner and attach your BACKRACK™.

For vehicles with no stake pockets, you will, unfortunately, have to do some drilling, but even then, we do our best to ensure you have an efficient method of installing your BACKRACK™.

Low profile drill kit

For specific late model full-sized trucks, we also offer a low-profile hardware installation kit that does require you to drill two holes at the top of the bed rail to install your BACKRACK™. This is a good option if you have a toolbox that needs to sit at bedrail height. This option is unfortunately not compatible with Tonneau covers.

Toolbox and Tonneau Cover Brackets

If you have a truck with a cross bed toolbox or with a Tonneau cover, we have a solution for that too. BACKRACK™ headache racks are fully compatible with either of these accessories, so let us know which one you have, and we will send you the appropriate adaptor bracket.

With the toolbox adaptor, the toolbox sits on top of the bracket and can slide forward so that you are not wasting any space in your truck bed.

With the Tonneau cover adaptor, it allows the headache rack to sit above the Tonneau cover so that you can get full use out of both.

Have you purchased a toolbox or Tonneau cover since installing your BACKRACK™? No problem – adaptors for these items may also be purchased separately.

I’m not sure what hardware installation kit I need
